SUSAN VAN PEURSEM

I met Nick Rudd personally in a particularly embarrassing moment of my life. A very young and inexperienced journalism student, I was interviewing the B-Lovers with Wendy Proeschl (well, she wasn’t married to Berni quite yet) for the local rag. It went sideways pretty quickly. I came back with “Let’s pretend it’s a Tiger Beat interview!” Nick did give his signature chuckle and agreed.

I think Nick was beyond this world in his talent, his intellect, and his ability to see things that none of us of normal folks could.  I remember talking about books, movies, music, but more importantly, what it meant to be human.  He did hurt.  He did understand that none of us really connected in a way we wished it could be or wanted to be.

I am so touched by all of everyone’s tributes, memories, and love for Nick.  He cannot be replaced.  But he can always be remembered.
